Privacy Policy

Last updated 9 October 2026.

1. Who is responsible

The controller for this website within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Alexander Sulimov, e-mail info@hieroglyphs.ai.

2. Short version

The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising and loads nothing from other companies. Your photo stays in your browser; only the square you select is sent for recognition and is not stored. The server keeps short technical logs with IP addresses to run the service and protect it from abuse; they are deleted after 14 days.

3. Images you recognise

A photo you open or upload is processed in your browser and is not sent to us. When you select a sign, only that square, reduced to 128×128 pixels, is sent to our server. It is recognised in memory and discarded straight away; it is not saved, not shown to anyone and not used to train the model.

4. Server logs

When you visit the site, the server records for each request: your IP address, the date and time, the requested address, the response status and size, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. For each recognition request it also records the IP address, the time and the first recognised code. In addition, the IP address is kept in memory for 24 hours to enforce the request limits.

We use these data only to deliver the site, to keep it secure and stable and to detect and stop abuse, such as automated mass requests (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). They are not combined with other data and not passed on, except where we are legally required to. The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.

5. Hosting

The site runs on a server of netcup GmbH, Karlsruhe, Germany, which processes the data above on our behalf. The data stay in Germany. HTTPS certificates are issued by Let's Encrypt; no visitor data are sent to them.

6. E-mail

If you write to us, we use your address and message only to answer you and delete them when they are no longer needed for that. Our mailbox is hosted by Namecheap, Inc., USA.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access the data concerning you, to have them corrected or erased, to restrict their processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to data portability (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Write to info@hieroglyphs.ai. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
